Alna Intelligence press release: Alna Intelligence will help improve the state secure data communication network
Selected winner of a tender procedure, the Baltic States' largest IT consulting and service company Alna Intelligence joined the State Secure Data Communication Network (SSDCN) development project, which is under implementation by Infostruktūra state enterprise. After the company has finalised a part of this project, network information security management processes will conform to EU and international standards whereas the IT services provided by Infostruktūra to public authorities will be managed using a state-of-the-art service management system.

SSDCN is a closed service network for Lithuanian public authorities, which ensures their secure mutual data exchange and data exchange with EU institutions. The project is financed from the EU Structural Funds and the Lithuanian budget. Alna Intelligence is the master contractor for the project part in the value of LTL 815,000. The network development work will also involve experts from IBM Lietuva. Plans are to finish work in late 2007.
Infostruktūra‘s order has been perhaps our largest consulting project in Lithuania. Our major task will be the development and enhancement of a single system of security tools for this network. What is important apart from the network‘s technical functionalities is ensuring the required conditions enabling the users of the network to exchange data in a convenient and, at the same time, secure way," says Alna Intelligence director Kazimieras Tonkūnas. He adds that his company‘s professionals are interested in this project also for the opportunity to contribute to the implementation of a significant nationwide project.

“At present, data, although protected, are often transmitted over public Internet networks. Development of a separate network designed solely for exchanging information between public authorities will significantly improve information security and the availability of services to public authorities. Currently, more than eighty institutions in Vilnius have already been connected into this kind of network, whereas following completion of the project next year all institutions in Lithuanian county and regional centres will be able to exchange data, including those with security classification, in a secure way both on the national and on the EU level. This work is very important for the streamlined functioning of the public authorities,“ claims Infostruktūra director Evaldas Paulauskas.

Alna Intelligence services will allow to review the security of the state secure data communication network according to the ISO 27001 standard, improve the procedures that ensure information security and develop the information protection knowledge and know-how of Infostruktūra professionals. Following implementation of the second part of the project, i.e. review of IT service management processes and deployment of a new system according to ITIL best practices, Inforstruktūra professionals will be able to manage the services delivered to public authorities better and to ensure their quality.
