VŽ online: Falck Security launches Hewlett-Packard’s (HP) fifth generation class C blade servers
Žilvinas Naujalis, Head of Falck Security Information Technology Department, says that with the increasing need for servers, their company had looked for and had tried to select the right hardware.

According to the HP Business Development Director at Alna Intelligence Rokas Ralys, the advantage of blade servers lies in the opportunities and simplicity of their administration: Blade servers provide for the maximum use of remote control benefits and for the automation of most administration tasks.
HP BladeSystem servers procured by Falck Security will include an operating Microsoft Exchange mail server, whose installation work will be completed before the end of November according to plan.

This type of servers is different from the conventional one in that it is optimised to take as little space as possible and to simplify management. If conventional rack-mount servers require separate power supply and computer network cables, in blade systems many equivalent elements are transferred from the server to a special enclosure connecting blade servers for space saving purposes.

These enclosures, apart from the computer network and power supply facilities, include integrated ventilation as well as different switching and control functions.
IDC surveys show that in 2005 the United States sold by 52% more blade servers as compared with 2004. Although a couple of years ago blade servers accounted for only part of the whole server market, IDC forecasts are that their share will amount to 11% this year and to 25% in 2009.
