The Electronic Declaration System by Alna Software has been awarded two EU ePractice awards
The editorial of the European Union e-service and eGovernment development portal ePractice have granted two awards to the electronic tax return system (Electronic Declaration System [EDS]) of the Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate (STI).
After the nomination of the STI Electronic Declaration System for the award, the project received the 2007 Good Practice appraisal and a special 2007 Editors Choice award granted only to the top projects in ePractice.
“We are pleased about the award received by the State Tax Inspectorate and the acknowledgement of the Electronic Declaration System at the EU level. There is no doubt that development of the EDS, and its popularity among users in Lithuania, have encouraged further development of eGovernment in Lithuania. It was a pleasure for Alna Software to have participated in the project as a part of the team, and they have justified the title of developer of individual software solutions”, said Artūras Gruodis, director of Alna Software.
Alna Software is one of the key developers of the Electronic Declaration System which was initiated in 2003. The EDS is used by both natural persons and legal entitiestaxpayers. It is estimated that between 2005 and 2007, 10 million documents were sent via the system and 3 million notices were sent to users.
So far, the EDS has been the largest in terms of scope, and the most complicated eGovernment project to be implemented in Lithuania. According to specialists, this is the best system of this type in the Baltic States. The EDS is a prime eGovernment solution which enables tax payers to file their tax return without approaching management institutions, or filling in any paper work.
